ON THE MOVE We bring you the latest happenings on the Toyota radar, covering everything from the cutting edge in tomorrow’s Toyota tech to the difference the brand is making on the ground today. Components assist training As part of Toyota’s ongoing social involvement campaign, the company strives to do all that it can for the community and society as a whole. With this in mind, the Toyota Technical Skills Academy is involved in the Toyota Technical Education Programme (T-TEP), an in-schools programme that strives to assist training institutions in getting learners and educators interested in technical skills. The goal is to 10 assist interested parties to start a career in the motor industry. Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) donated some much- needed components to two of these learning institutions – the Jabulani Technical Secondary School in Soweto and the University of Johannesburg – to highlight its commitment to bridging the skills gap in the country and raise awareness about the issue. The handover was witnessed by Lesego Mothabe, TSAM’s Manager: Technical Training, and representatives from the two beneficiary institutions. The donated components included a complete diesel engine, three engine block and head assembly units, three alternators and a locking differential, to the value of more than R300 000. These components will aid candidate training.
